Ok, how freaking hard should it be to just find some goddamn metal pushpins. I mean really! I'd think this was a fairly common item, but nooooooooooo. Search amazon for "aluminum pushpins" to find that they are out of stock... Search office depot and put it my zip code... "not available in your area." search google... every link there is either pointing to amazon or office depot... what the crap? I just want some goddamn pushpins that aren't going to break into a million pieces if I go at them with a hammer. grrrrrrrrrrr

So there's this little bar & grill by e.mag where I used to work. It's called Decker's. You could say I was a regular there. I went back today for the first time since I quit to meet a friend from the old office. I was unaware that they had added new entertainment. That's right... NAKED GUY.

so... where to begin. we'll start with... i'm fine, but my car isn't. we now know, however, which would win in a fight, my car or the pole with the arrow swerving around a hockey puck (watch out for flying saucers! it warns). the pole took my front bumper, my license plate and my alignment (my car made horrible noises as i was driving home... i'm afraid to look at it in the light...). so i'm taking the loser to the dealership i think... hopefully i can get a few hundred bucks in spare parts.
i think i'm going to buy a bike and use the metro. join the ranks of ralph, pete, and sarah... the willfully pedestrian...ated? ahh well... now i'm going to take a shower.

It dawned on me that myself and the people I know are likely to be interested in similar things and therefore make similar purchases at times.
Amazon.com has a neat little "Share the Love" feature where after making a purchase, you can email your friends a list of items you've just purchased, offering them a 10% discount on those items. And if any one (or more) of them take you up on it, you get a 10% credit on your Amazon.com account.

Well, tomorrow I have a quasi-interview of sorts, for what would in all honesty, be my ultimate dream job...
I'm meeting with the main developers for EverQuest to have dinner and drinks with them at their yearly fan convention in Chicago (luckily 30 miles from me).
I've honestly never ever been even the slightest bit nervous going into an interview process, but this one has my hair falling out...

well, techdirt reports from the whooooops department that the RIAA has mistakenly sued someone... "who doesn't seem to know what file sharing is..."
from the source article: "Among the songs she [66 years old] was accused of sharing: "I'm a Thug," by the rapper Trick Daddy." i think now's the time to buy this shirt (not quite work safe... contains the F word... and the URL being "tshirthell" should give that away...)

I am taking a class this semester called "Ethics of Science and Engineering". In that class we learned that the code of ethics in engineering that has the most priority is to protect public safety. That means that if you are in the middle of a $100 million project and you realize halfway through that there is a potentially hazerdous part of the project that was overlooked and it is going to cost $50 million, you had better make sure you make that fix, even if it means loss of profit. So that got me thinking about how this could potentially affect our everyday decisions.

ok, as most of you know, i'm looking for a new cell phone, since my plan so... erm... abruptly ended... with t-mobile. i don't think i want to stay with them, since their service is so spotty (as many of you have been witness to). i looked at nextel, since they have free incoming calls, but no phones that struck my interest. i was thinking maybe verizon, but if they go on strike, i'm better off without a plan than having one of theirs (and i don't know anything about their phones)...

I invite you all to send me an email (it's in my profile, wink wink), and let me know if you have outlook [express], i can send you a vcard, if not, i'll just send the plain old information. hope to see many of you (no comments from the swedish peanut gallery, i already know you can't make it, hehe)

No Joke...My therapist is trying to prove to me that I need to go back to school, and he asked me to talk to a bunch of computer people and find out information about their careers. Well being a computer person, like most computer people, we aren't very social, so I tossed together an online survey....if you are in a computer related field could you PLEASE fill this out for me.
I Promise and Swear etc, to not use this information for any reason other than to realize that I need an education.

So I started running again recently. I was out yesterday, and passed about 5 or 6 people going the other way. I greeted all of them with a friendly "hi" or "hello". I got exactly one response. What is with this? Why are people so damn unresponsive and antisocial? Does anyone else have similar experiences?

I actually met Ben through playing on an old-school no-graphics played-on-telnet text game (a mud), and I still run one (why, who knows, but it's fun). If anyone has the urge to come and play a wizard or barbarian and hack on random things (including other people), comes check us out http://www.feudalrealms.com or you can log on to the game at feudal.betterbox.net port 4242.
If you have the urge (beg beg beg) to throw us a vote on some silly mud ranking site, there's a blue VOTE! link on the bottom left of our homepage, any exposure is good exposure!

michelle and i went grocery shopping this weekend at the local supermarket, called Metro. the metro has the pleasure of being located in the midst of a very conservative (some orthodox, though not many) jewish population. not just jewish, mind you, but russian jewish. my mom loves the russian jews, man. anywho... we were at the store, and part of it appeals to michelle, since the meat is wayyyyy over in the corner, and the kosher food is plentiful. i added the link because i had to explain to michelle what it means too... apparently people just don't know.

Find the head.
"Find the Man's Head within 3 seconds and you're a genius! According to medical experiments: If you can find the Man's Head within 3 seconds, your right brain is developed better than normal. If you can find the Man's Head within 1 minute, your right brain is developed normally. If you can find the Man's Head within 1-3 minutes, your right brain is slow in reacting, you should eat more meat protein. If you can find the Man's Head in 3 minutes or more, your right brain is a disaster... extremely slow in reacting, the only suggeestion is please watch cartoons to help normally develop your right brain."

So here State side it is Labor Day. In a fashion similar to our ambivalence towards football (see soccer), we also cannot bring ourselves to celebrate May Day like the rest of the world does. No we have to have our own special version called Labor Day. Does this go back to the Cold War and anti-communistic ideals? So because the Soviets did such a good job celebrating May Day and we knew that we couldn’t beat them at their own party we decided not to come and just throw our own some other day? I think that’s what it is, anyone want to prove me wrong?
