While I am usually the first person to make a case for complete & total lack of communication with the outside world when you're on a vacation - a really really good one at least... I'm glad I was able to keep up with emails and such over the weekend - since I was off yesterday, and in the car the whole time, I missed 72 emails, one day's worth. Imagine if I had missed all of Friday, Saturday and Sunday - my morning's productivity (such as it is normally) would be completely shot... so, I for one am glad that I stayed connected this weekend.
What's the stance of the peanut gallery? We already know Jamie stays connected, even on his honeymoon, so who else wants to chime in? hehehe

Ok this is something like week 6 at the new Anarchy family ranch/compound (in an undisclosed location that you cannot afford). The cable and internet of course were ready to go on day one. Because its my fucking job to have this stuff up. How else am I going to conduct arms deals over IRC with foreign nationals while I gather all of this important information to the masses like: Dude hangs from own nuts.. or stick figures being sodomized? Its part of my job. Besides Mrs. Anarchy needs to be able to get to all of her message boards and upload cute photos to snapfish so Grandma Anarchy can ooh and ahh over the little one.

by Warren Ellis on the Suicide Girls website:
"in two days I'm off to San Diego (provided they let me into the country), where it never rains and in fact water vapour never actually enters the air. San Diego is an entirely dry-cured city, and is notable for largely looking like it was constructed last week. If you see Europeans laughing at signs seemingly at random in San Diego, it's because they've spotted the plaques announcing the "historic Gaslamp District." I have socks older than the historic Gaslamp District. In fact, there are probably still condoms laying in ditches and around the back of electricity sub-station in the Essex area that, for age and notable events alone, deserve the term "historic" more. San Diego, for me, encapsulates the Philip K Dick Condition in which we live today: just like his paranoid concerns, San Diego looks like it was assembled from flatpacks just before you got there, and will be folded up and put back in the warehouse an hour after you leave."

Back in the day, when I was a little raver, I would stand in line at the clubs and get sweaty-palmed and rumbly-tummied with excitement in anticipation of all the fun I was going to be having dancing and jumping around and killing off my brain. I now have the palm/tummy effect for Gogol Bordello. It's almost too much. Anytime now I'm going to start playing with outfits and make-up. And wishing for my first car. And looking forward to college. I feel young.

Scenario: Jack goes quail hunting before school, pulls into school parking lot with shotgun in gun rack .
1977 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2007 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

I discussed this with a few of you... but I recently decided that I want to be free of credit card debt within 5 months, as a stepping stone to controlling my money more and making it actually do something for me (not that filling me with beer isn't enough, i'm happy, but someday soon i'd like to have a beer in another country again...).

It's O.K. not having AC, there is still relief at the local pub or at the movie theater...but to have no air circulation or access to cold beer? Being without electricity is the suck.

Hey all - I caught wind of the /. post on the new musicmatch from Yahoo, and it reminded me that i've been putting off fixing the tagging on my mp3s from home - i have a lot of music and a lot of it is pretty poorly tagged. So I looked around for alternatives to MM, and found a couple, but I was wondering what people here used. WMP seems to do alright, but it's SLOW and screws up some things (and moves things around without telling me)... winamp does a good job but singly... i really really did like MM's batch Super Tagging, but it's such a beast to have and run, i just want something that's small, quick, and will do both v1 and v3 tagging... so, who's got suggestions, and what may they be?

"If there's a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is," Bush told reporters at an impromptu news conference during a fund-raising stop in Chicago, Illinois. "If the person has violated law, that person will be taken care of."
CNN 2004
OHHHHHHHHH....
See you know, you know.... what I thought, and really I feel silly about it now, but when I read "taken care of" I thought you meant harshly dealt with. I should have read that one more closely.
It is good to have that cleared up. Thanks Mr. President.
My bad. I won't let it happen again.
