and someone more reputable agrees with me about what i was saying - it's a pretty nifty browser, and if you wake up and find that 1/2 your memory is going to firefox, you might want to give maxthon a try.
in my opinion, they're both pretty similar, you guys are pretty safe with your browsing, so i wouldn't worry there... hehehe

muhgcee has done me a huge favor and put together specs for a computer for me to buy. The total, today only, is $1500. He sent me a couple of options as well, however to save money... let me know what you think all...

I am giving away an XL Tor shirt. It looked like it had something on it, so I ran it through the wash and it looks great. Anway, just shoot me an email to stu@fourmajor.com with your address and I will ship it out to you for free.
Oh yeah, and here is how I use Tor in Windows. :-)

so i found placeopedia today... awesome site, and they have a "random location" button that's fun to click on for a while. the first one i got took me to a tiny island off the coast of Denmark that's only got a couple of thousand people...
i now want to move there.
next it took me to the War Office... that's a little weird.

From my site:
Some of you may have heard about the mudslide on Leyte island in the Philipines with an estimated death toll of 1,350 people. Many of you haven’t. It happened on Friday, February 17, 2006.
...
So depending on your news source, you might get a good sense of the importance of this story. Or you might think it is just a minor occurrence, perhaps judging by a small link to the side with relation to a story that seems much less important. Or you might not even hear about it at all, even if you happen to read the all the links posted on all of the relevant sections on the Washington Post website.

NEW YORK (AP) - Al-Qaida and other Islamic extremist groups have poisoned the Muslim public's view of the United States through deft use of the Internet and other modern communications methods that the American government has failed to master, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Friday.
Duh!!!! I thinks its time the US Govt hired an ad/marketing agency. Who know with enough propaganda we might even start to think that our government is good and benevolent.

It’s apparently the day for weird and random music to be stuck in my head…
Earlier it was David Bowie… which has been a recurring thing for me, for some reason… I heard Changes at Joe^2 (my new favorite bar to go to with Lauren – 2 bottled beers gets you a free pizza from 7 to 9!), it was on again somewhere else recently, I played it the day before all of that; he’s really just been popping up a lot.
Now it’s the theme music from Red Dwarf… why the HELL would I suddenly have “Its cold outside, There's no kind of atmosphere” floating around all boppy and happy when I’m in this kind of condition? It’s perverse, I tell you. My brain is angry at me… that must be it.

I've been listening to hanselminutes now for a few weeks, and i have to say that i like some of the stuff he's pushing. specifically, #Develop, a free IDE for .Net code, his description of Boo, a .Net language written by some people trying to save their wrists, and so doing away with { and }.
Another interesting thing i've found, which all of you pogues should like, is Mono, and the Mono-Live CD... so you can have Linux and Mono up and running on your next bootup.
Speaking of Linux, has anyone been watching Ubuntu, or even goobuntu. If you think about this, if Mono becomes more popular, the question about which OS is best won't be so important.

Anyone here have experience with Linksys rackmount switches? Basically I want a switch with at least 16 ports, VLAN support, and gigabit on all the ports, for under $500. Cisco's are about $2000 on eBay. I am looking at this one.
Let me know so I can shoot a few questions off of you.
Thanks!

The white flakey death (SNOW!!!! AHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!) being amongst most of you, I figure you need some reading material.
This is a really long read, but interesting. This essay would pretty much be a diametric opposite view of the future then the one PNAC has. It reminds me of a bad Kevin Costner movie The Postman. Hrm, might put that in the Netflix que.
A decade and a half ago the world went from bipolar to unipolar, because one of the poles fell apart: The S.U. is no more. The other pole - symmetrically named the U.S. - has not fallen apart - yet, but there are ominous rumblings on the horizon. The collapse of the United States seems about as unlikely now as the collapse of the Soviet Union seemed in 1985. The experience of the first collapse may be instructive to those who wish to survive the second.

So a few of you have been to our new house, so you know we've got this freakin huge sexy TV in the living room and all our computers in our swank new office.
Now, I'm working from home today, so I'm in the office, but I'm wishing that I could be in the living room watching TV or something while I work, cause what's the fun in working from home if you can't catch up on your stories, eh?
Now the sexy new TV has a monitor input. It's HD so I could actually get a computer resolution up to 1920X1084. My father, who has the same TV, has tested this and says it's awesome. But if I'm going to plug a computer into a 61" monitor, I want that computer to play my Doom 3, Area 51, and such. But I don't want to take my best PC out of the office, because the office will still be my primary computing location.
All of this, combined with some other info that I can't quite share yet, has brought me to the conclusion that I need a good gaming laptop. I could keep it plugged into the TV right next to the PS2 and the TiVo, get a wireless keyboard and mouse to keep on the coffee table, and if I ever wanted to computer from bed or on vacation, I could just yank it and go.
So there you have it, I need a gaming laptop, and I need suggestions. Let me pre-empt this with the fact that I have NEVER owned a Windows laptop, so I really don't know what to look for. Right now my only odd requirement is that I be able to turn it on and off with the lid closed (a docking station could cover this need). What have you got for me?

now i don't know craigslist's pricing plan, but here's an interesting article via craigslist is like walmart.
The rant (heh) is about how craiglist comes into a community and displaces the alternative news that's already there and isn't set up to compete.
i have to kind of agree with Mike from techdirt on this one... CL is still mostly geared towards people that are online more anyway, and i haven't seen a decline in interest in say, the city paper...
