Spending new years with family and friends in Lake Arrowhead, CA! it's lovely up here, but (if you can believe it) even colder than Baltimore!
Surprisingly, since I moved to San Diego, I have been 5 state or national parks in California (in 3 months)... in the 4 years I lived in LA, I visited 0... hehe

Most... no, several... well, maybe a couple of you know about the show Connections... it was a bad ass history show that explained how seemingly disparate things in history are connected, and why. It's one of my favorite shows of all time, I've watched the 2nd & 3rd (of 3) seasons many, many times (I never got my hands on the first season until a couple of years ago).
Today I found this little gem of awesomeness that seems to be falling to the wayside... i'm debating what I can do to help - there's a paypal button, but it would appear that any funds have definitely NOT gone to the site (at least, not since 2003ish). Coincidentally, if you take the time to watch the video, I have had visions of an application with an interface very similar, in terms of layout, to his... who knows.
Anyways, Connections is awesome, that site could be awesome... enjoy!

I'm amusing the everloving piss out of myself by reading the comments about Ricky Gervais' article about why he doesn't believe in God, and why do you?, and pasting them to Jamie, and making snarky comments...
what are you doing?

Some bad ass mofo back yard engineers. Wish I could set something like this up.
This page is a diary about our effort to build a steam powered 'backup generator' to charge our batteries. For the most part we have all the power we could ever need from our small 600 Watt solar array and our 20' diameter wind turbine, but on occasion I do need to run a generator and I always figured that a steam engine would be the most fun, plus... I don't need to rely on petroleum - I have lots of wood all around me!

Most of you know that I worked with Jamie at 3 different jobs. At the 2nd one, Artifact, in order to make some cash since they weren't selling their software, they contracted me out to a Microsoft project I'd never heard of at the time. Over the years, it's become something pretty cool, and to hear Bill Gates talk about ImagineCup it's basically the coolest thing that kids can do with tech today.
I didn't have MUCH to do with it, basically taking our software that let people upload code, pictures, whatever, and rate each others' work, and making that fit what they wanted to do... but I'm pretty happy that I got to work on it. Anyways, enjoy the link, it's a pretty interesting post either way.

my coworker Jason sent me this page about doodling during your math class can lead to some interesting results... i'd have posted direct videos but there are a bunch, and they're all awesome. Enjoy! And.... 3.14 points to whoever is the first to get the reference she's making with the box for the Shoop.

I want to start making everything i say sound REALLY weird if recorded and played back in a police station... like
"I like picking capers for other people"... did i mean i'm planning a crime for you, or i like denuding Mediterranean plants so that you can make a nice briny sauce for my chicken?
I want to come up with some more of these... anyone?

Caganer - AKA, the pooping guy.
"A Caganer ... is a small statue found in Catalonia, in neighbouring areas with Catalan culture such as Andorra, and in other parts of Spain, Portugal and Italy. The figure is depicted in the act of defecation."
And, of course they do famous figures, too.

I fixed something that was quite annoying, and I thought I would post it here so that google can add it to earth's meta knowledge.
Could not synchronize record
Details
----
Property update did not succeed.
Error -19752
The client is Outlook 2011 for Mac connecting to an Exchange 2011 sp1 server via EWS. When trying to fix this I noted several others reporting the same error with Entourage 2008 sp2 on EWS (Exchange Web Services) connections as well as Outlook 2011.
I had frequent iterations (several hundred every mail sync attempt) of sync error 19752 in Outlook 2011. This error would specify particular messages by subject as being problematic, however spot checking several of the referenced messages, they appeared to be present with all content. Outlook 2011 would take a great deal of time (and bandwidth) attempting these large syncs with every new message or even states change (marking one message as read). Utilizing this mailbox from OWA or a Windows XP machine with Outlook 2010 via RPC over HTTPS yielded zero problems.
I ran a new to Exchange 2010 SP1 command-let on the mailbox server:
New-MailboxRepairRequest -Mailbox user@domain.com -CorruptionType SearchFolder, AggregateCounts, ProvisionedFolder, FolderView
After this ran successfully the problem has gone away, so I am guessing the problem was due to mail item corruption of some sort.
Of note, possibly related, possibly not, a majority of the mail content in the box was recently imported via Apple Mail. I connected to my previous service via IMAP and dragged and dropped mail items to their new folders in Exchange.

So you SHOULD remember Yonderboi, that kid from 2001 that put out the super great album at 19 then followed it up with a thoroughly mediocre sophomore attempt…
Well, there’s another crazypants DJ/producer I’ve been listening to for a while that I just discovered is Serbian… Check out an interview and 1 hour mix over here
He’s unfairly good at remixing and sampling old swing tracks, and I have probably entreated each of you to listen to Why Don’t You at least once (or, if you ever showed up at XS any time in the last year, treated you to the tune… hehe)
