Meanwhile...
Previous | Next by Casey 03 February, 2004 - 4:31 AM

Our country was attacked by terrorists again today.

I bet this news won't get even close to as many comments as Janet's tit.

i first saw stuff about this on fox news channel this morning, then heard about it on npr on the ride in, then they were talking about it at work...

then they went back to talking about janet...

I just wonder how many times someone is going to find Bush's coke and come up with an excuse for it.

2/3/2004 >> muhgcee

In terms of the news, yes it should be mentioned over Janet. But when dealing with a public forum, an issue that is more opinionated will rightfully win out over an issue that is just news. I don't think we have much to argue about with this one.

The thing about this is that I don't think anyone is sick. So I am not too worked up about it. The people that needed to find it found it, before anyone got hurt. Score one for the good guys.

2/3/2004 >> C Mo

Agreed Rich.

2/3/2004 >> Casey

It takes 2 to 5 days to die from Ricin poisoning. It only showed up last night. That said, I'd be surprised if anyone got sick anyway. The point was to shut down the Senate, I'm guessing. Of course if you think about it, since all mail to capitol hill is irradiated now to kill biological agents, sending ricin was fairly clever. Ricin of course won't be affected by such treatments.

2/3/2004 >> pyrex

Where else have I heard about the use of Ricin? I read the word, hear it pronounced as I do so, some distant bell goes off, but I can't seem to connect it to anything.

2/3/2004 >> ralph

pyrex, it was used in 1995 in an attack in the subway in Tokyo by some cult...can't remember the name.

2/3/2004 >> C Mo

I believe it might have been in the news as one of the poisons they suspected Sadaam was producing. At least that's where I remember hearing about it the most. Also I think they arrested someone in England for possessing Ricin not too long ago.

2/3/2004 >> C Mo

The Tokyo attack was Sarin I believe.

2/3/2004 >> ralph

good call C Mo, it was sarin.

2/3/2004 >> Casey

FYI Sarin is a gas at room temp. Ricin is a protein from castor beans. When dried, its a powder at room temp. I think the Saddam connection is right.

2/3/2004 >> pyrex

Saddam A Go-Go. Heeh.

2/3/2004 >> pyrex

Good thing humans come with expiration dates.

2/3/2004 >> muhgcee

I was never marked. You can't tell when I am going to go bad.

2/3/2004 >> muhgcee

I try . . . not very hard though obviously.

2/3/2004 >> pyrex

Exactly, the dates are unknown. Imagine the crap these kinds of people would try to pull if they knew when they were going to die!

2/3/2004 >> ben

does the word "homeland" prickle anyone else's hairs the way it does mine? maybe i just think about it too much, but it reminds me of references to protecting the fatherland...

2/3/2004 >> pyrex

"And Russia will be all like "AAHHH MOTHERLAND!".

2/3/2004 >> pyrex

A main course of homeland with a sideorder of lebensraum? Okie dokie.

Hehe, couldn't resist.

2/3/2004 >> ben

hahahahahahahahaha
